An early body of work that explores the relationship between digital technologies and abstract painting, Luminous Plastic was my first commercial solo show at Spiro Grace Art Rooms in Spring Hill, Brisbane, from 17 September – 3 October 2015.
The exhibition consisted of 13 paintings that evolved through an intuitive process of staining, layering and erasing pigment on board. Part of this process involved documenting, editing, and re-composing each of the works as digital images. This playful transition across digital and physical space resulted in a series that combines the aesthetics of acrylic screens with the materiality of post-painterly abstraction.
